Hydroweld USA have
now opened a brand new underwater welding technology and training
centre in Miami, Florida, USA. The facility includes a 36,000 gallon
indoor tank which accommodates 4 welding stations and a dry
hyperbaric environment. Initially the centre will run
Hydroweld's wet welder training programme but later it is planned to
run unique dry habitat welding courses utilising the
installed. The wet welding courses, which which are modular, last for 10 days and are intended to train
professional divers up to the standard
required to pass a Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) to AWS D3.6-93 Specification for
Underwater Welding to class 'B' welds. The WPQ is witnessed by Lloyds Register of Shipping
(LRS). LRS are a major classification
society and certification issued by them is generally accepted by other classification
societies throughout the world. |
