Hydroweld provide unrivalled product
support for users of Hydroweld FS . This support covers all aspects of wet welding such as
the application of the electrodes, provision of suitably trained and qualified welder
divers, training, hire and sales of both welding and diving equipment, completion of wet
welding procedures/welder qualifications, joint or co-operative projects, project
management and technical support. Hydroweld can also provide valuable assistance at the
design stage to help meet the design criterion and help to avoid or reduce designs that
are not wet welding or welder friendly.
Completion of wet welding projects
Hydroweld provide an unrivalled
underwater wet welding service, where quality is of prime consideration. Projects are
completed world-wide and can often be mobilised at short notice. Hydroweld operate in all
fields of underwater engineering and has extensive knowledge in the oil and gas, shipping,
marine and civil engineering industries. Hydroweld also provide speciality wet welding
services directly to the Ministry of Defence.
Writing & provision of welding procedures
Hydroweld specialise in providing
clients with formal written wet welding procedures to the AWS D3.6 Specification for
Underwater Welding. The AWS D3.6 is the most widely used underwater welding specification
and whilst conventional above water specifications can be applied to wet welding the AWS
D3.6 takes into consideration certain variable, particular to wet welding.
Qualification of wet welding procedure specifications (W/WPS.)
Welding procedures, which are
generally completed to the AWS D3.6 Specification for Underwater Welding, can be qualified
at one of our approved sites or at any suitable facilities requested by the client.
Witnessing, testing and certification can be provided by independent classification
societies including Lloyds, DNV, ABS, BV, Rina, GL etc. and completed coupons can be sent
to independent NAMAS/UKAS or other appropriately accredited test house.
Qualifications of wet welder divers (WPQ)
Welders can be qualified at any of our
approved test and training facilities or at any suitable facilities requested by the
client. The location will depend on the clients and WPS requirements. Witnessing, testing
and certification can be provided by independent classification societies including
Lloyds, DNV, ABS, BV, Rina, GL etc. and completed coupons can be sent to independent
NAMAS/UKAS or other appropriately accredited test house.
Provision of suitably qualified wet welder divers, supervisors and
support personnel
Hydroweld can draw from a nucleus of
specialist wet welder divers with proven expertise gained during thousands of hours
practical experience and extensive training.
Hydroweld also maintain a database of qualified personnel, which includes, welding
specialists, welding and diving supervisors, and inspection support personnel and welder
divers with varying degrees of skill. The database is used to match our client's
requirements with the expertise and qualifications of available personnel. Full teams can
be supplied or individuals to reinforce the clients crew or provide specialist services.
All diving personnel supplied or recommended by Hydroweld will hold the following
certification:
- HSE Pt 1 or II diving certificate (Pt 3 if applicable)
- In date medical certificate
- Diver Medic or First Aid Certificate
- Offshore Survival Certificate (where
applicable)
- Relevant job specific certificates

Supervisors and
superintendents have considerable experience in the type of work being undertaken and in
addition to holding the relevant diving certificates, are issued with a letter of
appointment and may hold an ADC/IMCA supervisors certificate of competence.
Marine, civil and welding engineers may be employed on projects requiring specialist
know-how as well as project management teams and experts in virtually any area of
underwater engineering.
All inspection personnel are qualified to CSWIP 3.1U, 3.2U or 3.4U or hold a Lloyd's
inspection certificate. Inspection engineers hold the appropriate experience and hold
relevant certification.
Project management and/or support
Hydroweld can provide a project
management team to run wet welding projects or to support the project with additional
qualified personnel. Hydroweld can also provide client representatives to observe and
monitor wet welding projects being carried out by another contractor to ensure compliance
with recognised and agreed procedures.
Underwater NDE/NDT
Hydroweld employ the services of the
UKs leading underwater None Destructive Testing consultants to provide independent
MPI, ACFM, CP, Ultra-Sonics, Video, Visual and photographic examination of underwater
structures and repairs. Hydroweld also supply underwater inspection equipment including
MPI, Video and still photography equipment.
